Introduction

Creating a website in 2010 can be a very simple task.  The technology has advanced to the point you that can click a button, and poof, your content is immediately available on the web.  Since just getting the content out there has become so simple, what customers expect to see on a modern website is continually evolving and changing.  Creating a successful website in 2010 involves understanding the advancements in technology coupled with the ability to evaluate the fierce competition among designers, developers, and marketers.  In this chaotic changing environment, even small website projects can bombard the average consumer with an over abundance of choices and questions that must be answered:

  • Who should I choose to build my next website?
  • What software should it use?
  • What features do I need?
  • How do I get people to see it?
  • How do I use social media marketing to get more business? (or if I’m a real beginner, what is social media marketing?)

websites evolved

I’m Solomon Rothman and I’ve built hundreds of websites. I am the CEO of the startup http://moviepals.org.  I’m going to take a large portion of the web design and Internet marketing knowledge in my head, rip it out and dissect it in this book. I’m going to give it to you straight, unlike most of the stuff on the web which will usually either talk around the issue, not contain the practical information that you actually need–or will be full of overly idealistic “they way the world should work” mentality (yech!).  Israel Rothman, and Brian Bentow (my partners in this) will collaborate with me here to insure that the finished product is easy to read, and they will also contribute to the content, which will become a living document online; a resource to be used and updated.

There is no one definite way to create and promote a site. At any given time there are multiple strategies which could work. Web development, search marketing, and social media marketing are cross-disciplines that involve all the industry buzz words. They are fundamentally about forming a strategy, executing it, seeing what worked, what didn’t and then re-adjusting. It’s a process, like most things in life, where you have to leverage what you have to get what you want.

Nothing yet. I am just in the beginning with the above website. I will either learn enough from this to continue and add to it or I will learn enough to start over. We’ll see.

No question after reading through your site I have got to get more social networking work going. I get a decent amount of traffic and business off my site but I’m ready to go to the next level – and you seem to have paved the road to where I want to go.
