What says the most about person? Is it their look? Is it their persona or the way they carry themselves? Or sometimes does it just come down to a name? When we created CANY clothing, the name and the message were equally important to us. CANY represents the belief that from coast to coast, we are one country, united not divided. Our goal is to not only break down the east coast vs. west coast mentality, but to enlighten some and remind others that people are people regardless of their race, religon or sexual preference. From CA to NY, we are all Americans and all of us should have the right to live happily on our own terms as long as they are not harmful to our fellow man.
Our designs are inspired by the belief that one day we all will have those rights. When we designed our first six shirts we really wanted to send a message and tell our story. Our first shirt “Speak Out” was designed for people to express or speak out for what they believe in. This shirt really speaks to all of our first ammendment rights and how important they are to each and every one of us. Our second design is called “Heads Together” and really is a concept that most Americans when put into certain situations already possess, the ability to put our heads together and ignorance gone.
In future blogs we will discuss more of the designs and the inspiration behind them. Please visit us at www.canyclothing.com and see what inspires us! People will always want to look good in what they are wearing, why not look good with a positive message attached to it.
At CANY Clothing we are all about Speak Out and what it represents. Growing up in a foster home, I felt at an early age that it was important to speak out for what I believed in and not to get trampled by the system that stifles so many. Sometimes I would find myself speaking out only to engage in some sort of debate on a topic I felt passionate about so that I could exersize my skills on expressing my feelings. It’s these “skills” that inspired me to design the “Speak Out” T-shirt and the desire to get my message out to the masses. Speak Out means what you want it to and relates to what you want it to relate to. A musician might find that it ‘s about their freedom to express themselves through music, whereas a person who is gay or a lesbian might wear it to speak out against the injustices against them and their right to be heard. One thing all who wear will have in common is the belief that we must always protect our First Ammendment Rights and the power that comes with them. Peace

MARC JACOBS YOUNGER BROTHER PAUL CARRIES on the LEGACY and LAUNCHES CANY CLOTHING, a SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS LINE of T-SHIRTS
Ventura, CA- June 12, 2009. Paul Jacobs of CANY Clothing is announcing the launch of their online store at www.canyclothing.com. CANY is inspired by the belief that everyone has a voice and the right to be heard, regardless of age, sex, race, religion or sexual preference.
Paul Jacobs is the youngest of the three Jacobs children. At an early age, Paul and his sister were put into foster care when their single mother fell ill and was no longer able to take care of them. His oldest sibling Marc went to live with his Grandmother, who was unable to care for all three children at the time. Marc would eventually go on to become a fashion icon while Paul and his sister would finish out their childhood with an amazing family in foster care. Paul points to his diverse upbringing as the key factor in developing CANY and his belief that from coast to coast we are one country united not divided.
“Please join us on our journey to spread our message of peace, kindness, equality and love to all who will listen.”
