WordPress themes are free, but, like all open-source software, they are not optimized well “out-of-the-box’. Hardwood Flooring Installation Blog – Los Angeles Floor Refinishing is the Title we chose (setting>general) for the title, because the title is very important for optimization for the search engines: the Title of a WordPress blog in many well-done themes links back to the blog on every page, with semantic anchor text: this is critical to search engine recognition. In this case, the goal is to rank for the proper names of all the various types of flooring and manufacturers names of the hardwood flooring expert contractors, Kalley Flooring. While I can write about this site and link to it from strong related sites like I am doing here, with contextual links like above to the site, the  is only optimized for their proper name, which is easy to rank for.  They need to rank on searches for methods of flooring, manufacturers names, and generic hardwood flooring contractor Los Angelessearches, which are very competitive because the actual manufacturers of the Flooring have deep pockets and have dominated these searches, along with Service Masters flooring Contractors,  Superpages and some other huge franchised competitors. In order to do this, their website must grow at least weekly (must be a blog) must link to their target websites with relevant content (they have multiple websites, locations) with good anchor-text links, and must be LINKED BACK TO WITH RELATED KEYWORDS TARGETING MATCHING OPTIMIZED PAGES FOR EVERY TERM THEY WANT TO TARGET. This is accomplished in a few ways: we use a WordPress plug-in (All-in-One-SEO) to build proper Meta Tags based on the content of posts and pages.  But there is stil more to know about the necessary architecture:  Notice the footer on this site,  http://kalleycontractors.com:  when you hold your mouse over this link, you see that I have linked to them here with text describing what site is about (and is optimized for!).  That is exactly what happen in th efooter on every page, as you change pages or posts, the footer link changes to match the content of that page.  This means that when people republish and link to this page, it the links will be like this ;-)   This has the same effect as what I am doing here in this post, which will rank for several of these searches by Thursday (don’t ask me how I know, I am an expert, that is how I know!). This is the php code to go in a WordPress theme footer to accomplish this: <a href=”<?php echo get_settings(‘home’); ?>/”> <?php the_title(); ?><br /><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> </a> Since many WordPress themes do not build proper H1 tags, another way to do this, in the footer, or the header (depending on aesthetics) is to do it the way we have done it on this site so that the header can be just an image: <h1><a href=”<?php bloginfo( ‘url’ ); ?>”> <?php the_title(); ?> : <?php bloginfo( ‘name’ ); ?></a></h1> is in the footer here: http://rothmanmarketing.com: notice that as you change pages, the text link back to the main page changes based on the page you are on, creating wonderful ranking for very tall searches. Make sure when you post a page or a post, to include the same target key words in the Title, the body, and the tags. Syndicate the RSS feed, sign up for Google local (duh, it is free!), post at least weekly, and you are on your way. Now I will inform the client of what I have done here, post exerts with contextual links back on my various groups at Active Rain, Reatown, etc…Bookmark this page at digg.com,  stumbleupon.com..well you gt the idea!
