We recently got tired of paying for Letip, BNI, multiple chambers of commerce and other groups: we added up all that we were spending, and decided we could do better: and we did at a profit!
Enter SeattleNetwork.net: we wrote up our own manifesto copy:
“BY INVITATION ONLY! Participation in the Forums and the Blog are open to all who can keep it informational and/or inspirational, join the Forums and the Blog for free anytime, but:
Only RSVP invitees will be allowed to attend these exclusive event at the top of the Columbia Tower in Downtown Seattle!
You are cordially invited to a business networking event:
BY INVITATION ONLY
Only RSVP invitees will be allowed to attend this exclusive event at the top of the Columbia Tower in Downtown Seattle.
SeattleNetwork.net: Seattle’s Exclusive Business Networking Club
This is the networking model to end all models. Entertainment, competition to speak in 3 minute forums with the winners speaking at the next exclusive event:
· No badges
· No fee to join
· No dues
· No rules except that you must be invited
· Great, entertaining “Gong Show” venue!
Watch, do business, introduce yourself to the group only if you like, or remain anonymous: it is all very discreet and up to you.
You are invited if you attended the last meeting, or if you have an active profile on our forums: print it and bring it:
Please join us!! “
We emailed some invitations to some business card owners we had met at other groups, and the Bellevue Chamber, and much to our happiness over 45 people prepaid RSVP and showed up! Here is an independent review from a local journalist: thenationalnetworker.com
The first meeting was in November for the newly setup online social group, and we already have over 20 people participating in the forums, and look: we already rank on Google for: seattle networking club; seattle business club; even: Seattle Networking!
“I really liked the curiosity in the room. Mr. Rothman came back to speak over the crowd of now 40 or so people. “Advertising has changed”, he stated. “People find you - you don’t find them. Now people have the ability to track down just about anything they need, based on how interesting they find it. So here is how things will work,” he commented. He proceeded to tell us that he wanted five people to come up front, give their name and their company but no “commercial” or “tagline” - he said that people want real knowledge. Each person would be given three minutes to talk about something inspiring or informational. At the conclusion of the five speakers, everyone there would vote on the talk they liked the best, and that person would be invited the next time to speak longer (as someone had done earlier at this event).
He also mentioned that IF you gave a commercial or a tagline, you would be “gonged”…” thanks for the revew, Lori Richardson!
